Funded by the EPSRC as part of the Sustainable Urban Environment (SUE) programme, the RETROFIT 2050 project brings together an interdisciplinary team from the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA) at Cardiff University; Sustainable Urban and Regional Futures (SURF) at Salford University; the Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD) at Oxford Brookes University,;the Durham Energy Institute at Durham University; the School of Construction Management and Engineering at Reading University; and the Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) at the Department of Engineering, Cambridge University.
We will also be working with a broad range of regional and commercial partners, taking a holistic approach in order to draw well-rounded, practical findings that are of real use to practitioners. Project partners include RICS, BRE, TATA, ARUP, Core Cities, DEFRA, Welsh Government, Manchester City Council, Cardiff Council, Carillion, Environment Agency Wales and Neath Port Talbot Council.
